<p>Vivo have recently partnered with BT to launch their business grade hosted telephony service &amp; have already secured major contracts with a large debt management company, multiple site recruitment consultancy and an international high fashion retailer. Hosted telephony promises to revolution how organisations implement and manage their telephony, helping to reduce costs by eliminating capital expenditure and ongoing maintenance and support costs, and providing highly sophisticated yet easy to use features for companies of all sizes. </p>
<p>Vivo approached HeadRed to support the launch of the service, recognising the importance of implementing a professionally managed SEO strategy to rapidly generate maximum exposure and high quality leads. </p>
<p>Already Vivo are starting to realise the benefit of our highly acclaimed SEO service. They recently signed up to one of our ongoing SEO contracts, which provides them with month-by-month optimisation for a selection of service related key phrases.  </p>
<p>Six weeks into their contract they have already seen a marked improvement in their ranks, with only one of their chosen four phrases off the 1<sup>st</sup> page of results. In time we fully expect these to improve further with the goal of realizing no.1 rankings across the board a real possibility.</p>
<p>At the time of writing (29/07/2010) we have achieved the following rankings for Vivo: </p>
<ul>
<li>hosted telephony                       10<sup>th</sup></li>
<li>hosted ip telephony                   7<sup>th</sup></li>
<li>hosted phone system                 14<sup>th</sup></li>
<li>hosted phone systems               5<sup>th</sup></li>
</ul>
<p>These four phrases equate to a combined 7,500 searches per calendar month, which represents a significant market for Vivo to tap into. By improving these ranks even further we expect Vivo to capture a large proportion of these searches, consequently driving increased traffic to their site and providing them with a greater number of targeted sales enquiries as a result. </p>

<p>The <strong>Northamptonshire Complementary Education Learning Platform</strong> is a new project devised by the Education Sector of Northamptonshire County Council. Its aim is to provide better communication between young people, teaching staff, parents and the wider community using the Internet.</p>
<p>The learning platform, which comprises a new website and intranet, will enable staff and young people to collaborate in shared areas, communicate their ideas and store their own materials in personal “e-portfolios”.</p>

<p><u>1. SEO vs. PPC</u><br />
Clients often ask “<i>which is better – SEO or PPC</i>?” – A question that has created countless arguments and opinions. Fortunately, most industry experts have now realised that both have their pros and cons but a combination of both is best for long-term visibility.</p>
<p><u>Black Hat vs. White Hat</u><br />
Surprising though it may be, despite a large portion of evidence against it some people still leap to the defence of unethical SEO. How these people can argue against hundreds of PhDs employed by the leading search engines is beyond me.</p>
<p>Fortunately though there has been a rise in the number of high-profile companies dropping out of search results for unethical optimisation tactics. The resultant impact of these cases means fewer and fewer clients are turning to Black Hat SEO for instant results and are keen to pursue healthier, long-term White Hat optimization.</p>
<p><u>3. SEO Has No Future vs. Oh Yes it Does</u><br />
As redundant debates go this has to be the pick of the lot. Anybody who suggests SEO has no future in the modern, online marketplace is completely blinkered to the benefits it can offer. Strangely enough, the people who insist it has no future always seem to be the people who define SEO as the unfair manipulation of search engines.</p>
<p>This couldn’t be further from the truth. SEO is not manipulation; it is honing, toning and refining a website.</p>
<p>These people do not fully understand the industry and the huge amount of work that goes into decent white hat optimisation. Fortunately, this debate will die off as the world in general gains a greater understanding of exactly what search optimisation means. Black hat may have no future but decent SEO is a massively important aspect of online marketing.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Some 73% of web users have left websites because of annoying ads, recent research has revealed. An annual study of consumer attitudes to online ads revealed the number of people driven to leaving a site because of intrusive or annoying ads grew 46% year on year.</p>
<p>The study also found 59% of web users have stopped visiting a website altogether because of intrusive or irrelevant advertising.</p>
<p>Ads with loud noises, pop-ups covering web content and ads that were tricky to close, minimise or click away from were the most annoying.</p>
<p>Back in August we reported on the rapidly growing decline of banner ads and pop-ups. It seems many brands are making the mistake of going into online advertising with the same mindset as offline. Online advertising needs to be more subtle and less invasive otherwise the company’s brand image could be severely tarnished.</p>

<p>Even if they already know the name of the company they’re looking for, 83% will still  use a search engine to find its website. Only 17% would try guessing the company web address and type it directly into a browser.</p>
<p>The overwhelming majority of respondents click on organic search results rather than sponsored links – 92% say they look at organic results first and 93% say these are the most relevant.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Everyone’s heard of the flagship social media websites – Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. In today’s society “social media marketing” is an increasingly common method of site promotion and traffic generation.</p>
<p>Many companies use a blog or news feed on their website to interact with their customers and keep them abreast of brand and future developments within their industry.<br />
However, the concept of “micro-blogging” might not be as familiar to you as some of the more commonly accepted social marketing methods.</p>
<p>Pioneer company, <a href="http://www.twitter.com" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, launched the concept back in 2006 and in the past two years has grown considerably; boasting over 2 million user accounts!</p>
<p>The idea of micro-blogging is focused on the provision of quick, easy, bite-sized information. A Twitter account gives users the facility to “tweet” remotely from any PC or mobile phone and encourages them to submit easy-to-digest micro-blog posts at increasingly regular intervals. Similar to a RSS feed interested parties can subscribe to a company or individual’s Twitter feed and receive real-time updates directly to their system.</p>
<p><a href="http://twitter.com/telegraphnews" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a>, <a href="http://twitter.com/guardiannews" target="_blank">the Guardian</a> and even <a href="http://twitter.com/NASA" target="_blank">NASA</a> are all represented on Twitter. In an environment where customer interaction and brand promotion are essential, new mediums like Twitter are leading the way. <p>Statistics taken from the IPA’s Bellwether Report show that online ad spend continued to grow above average in the last quarter, accounting for 6% of overall marketing spend – the highest proportion it has ever recorded.</p>
<p>So, as we slip ever closer to a recession it seems that online businesses are far more resilient than their bricks-and-mortar counterparts. In times like these more and more companies are looking online to keep their business afloat.</p>
