New Site: Putting your best foot forward

Shoes On is an independent retailer specialising in children’s and ladies’ shoes. The company was set up by shoe experts and professional mothers Sam Hill and Lynne Bromnick with the aim of making children’s shoe shopping and fitting a fun and convenient process.

HeadRed worked with Sam and Lynne in the design and development of the Shoes On website, which was launched at the end of November. In addition to many popular brands of kid’s shoes the site also sells a range of ladies footwear to cater for the ultimate mother and child shopping experience.

The site was designed with this target audience in mind with vibrant colours and imagery overlying a simple, easy-to-use e-commerce system.

HeadRed commissioned to build new website for RAATE

The Recent Advances in Assistive Technology and Engineering, or RAATE for short, is a UK conference focused on the latest innovations and developments in assistive technology.

RAATE 2008 was organised and hosted by the Health Design and Technology Institute (HDTI), whom HeadRed designed their website for last year.

The website for RAATE needs to paint a professional picture of the conference to potential delegates in order to encourage registrations, and it is felt that the current site could be greatly improved in these areas. The HDTI have therefore commissioned HeadRed to oversee a complete overhaul of the website in preparation for next year’s event at the Coventry Hilton.

Whilst the RAATE site is redeveloped a temporary holding page will be placed on the HDTI website containing details of where and when next year’s conference is to be held.

The new site for RAATE 2009 is expected to be launched in Quarter 1 next year.

Two new projects commissioned

Our strong link with local companies is showing no signs of abating as we sign two new contracts with Coventry-based organisations.

Synchro Ltd is a UK-formed software development company. Their custom-developed software, the self-titled Synchro, is a project management package that can be used to plan and implement complex construction projects.

HeadRed have been tasked with the redesign and redevelopment of Synchro’s website, which provides potential customers with information on the company and the benefits that the software itself can offer them.

Godiva PBC is a commissioning collaborative of Coventry GP practices that operate under the National Health Service (NHS). Their mission is to put people in control of their own healthcare and provide patients with a wider range of convenient, innovative and responsive services.

HeadRed will be designing and developing a new front-end website for Godiva PBC, but also building a sophisticated back-end that will be used as a practice management system for all the consortium’s members.

New micro-blogging concept a real tweet for social marketers

Everyone’s heard of the flagship social media websites – Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. In today’s society “social media marketing” is an increasingly common method of site promotion and traffic generation.

Many companies use a blog or news feed on their website to interact with their customers and keep them abreast of brand and future developments within their industry.
However, the concept of “micro-blogging” might not be as familiar to you as some of the more commonly accepted social marketing methods.

Pioneer company, Twitter, launched the concept back in 2006 and in the past two years has grown considerably; boasting over 2 million user accounts!

The idea of micro-blogging is focused on the provision of quick, easy, bite-sized information. A Twitter account gives users the facility to “tweet” remotely from any PC or mobile phone and encourages them to submit easy-to-digest micro-blog posts at increasingly regular intervals. Similar to a RSS feed interested parties can subscribe to a company or individual’s Twitter feed and receive real-time updates directly to their system.

The Telegraph, the Guardian and even NASA are all represented on Twitter. In an environment where customer interaction and brand promotion are essential, new mediums like Twitter are leading the way. HeadRed are currently in the process of setting up Twitter functionality for featured client Ajay Ahuja, which we hope will give Ajay an effective and regular dialogue with his customer base.

Richard McGibney joins the HeadRed team

The HeadRed recruitment drive shows no sign of abating as we welcome our new Production Manager, Richard McGibney.

Richard’s arrival is something of a coup for HeadRed as he brings with him over 14 years experience in project management. He will act as the conduit between our clients and the development studio, providing a sole point of contact at all stages of the production process.

For our clients Richard will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and in line with their initial requirements.

Here at HeadRed we have no doubt that his arrival will optimise the efficiency of our internal procedures and consequently provide our clients with a level of service beyond their expectations.

Sheer exhibitionism

The Herbert is part of the Arts and Heritage Service of Coventry City Council and is currently going through a major redevelopment.

The recently launched website for the Herbert’s “Virtual Gallery” forms a significant part of this redevelopment. The site, which was designed and developed by HeadRed, allows everyday users with the facility to create and manage their own virtual gallery space.

The site is yet another example of our work with recognisable corner-stones of the Coventry community and further demonstrates our commitment to the local area and its various reputed institutions.

Visit the website, or read the case study.
