That's using your noodle!

Predicting the next big online success isn’t always straightforward. True, some are easier to spot than others – back in August last year we reported on new micro-blogging concept Twitter, which has since gone from strength to strength.

However, knowing which horse to back isn’t always as obvious, which is where new investment company, YouNoodle, comes in.

YouNoodle uses a scoring system that plans to turn the business of investment into more of a science. Their software measures the “buzz” surrounding a company via blogs and media reports along with a variety of factors including website traffic. The scoring tool covers nearly 30,000 start-ups, ranging from biotechnology to gaming software.

So, if you want some advice on where to put your money why not check out YouNoodle?

Video driving new era of search

In 2009 Google is planning on more actively integrating universal search into their algorithms. What this means in layman’s terms is that other content mediums, such as news, audio and video, will be returned more commonly for Google searches.

To capitalise on this many companies are creating new audio and visual content in order to put their brand in front of more customers more often. You can see this in practice by the marked increase in corporate media channels. Many companies now have their own YouTube channel to further promote their business, but it seems that it’s not just high flying corporates riding the new media bandwagon – even his holiness Pope Benedict XVI has gotten into the act!

In the future video will have a massive part to play in the visibility and promotion of a company’s online brand. It’s only a matter of time before the HeadRed YouTube channel goes live – keep watching this space!

HeadRed FC fail to recapture January form

It was a sad Christmas for HeadRed FC (PSA Peugeot Citroen Colts) with the team languishing in the bottom half of the table during the holiday period. However, it seems the turkey and crackers did the boys some good as they posted their best run of results during January.

An 8-2 walloping of Chapelfields Colts on the 11th Jan was the catalyst the team needed, with hat-tricks for both Keogh and the much-lauded Bowns. This was followed up with two consecutive 4-3 victories over Leamington Hibs and Firefighers Juniors respectively.

It seemed the team had finally turned the corner, but cruel fate was to conspire against them once more. On the 1st of February the lads went down 2-3 in an undeserved defeat to high-flying Pro Santos (samba) and sadly the result knocked confidence levels within the squad.

The following fixture saw another defeat to Alvis Juniors and I’m afraid it’s back once again to the middle of the table.

With only 12 games to go promotion is looking like a tall-order, but I’m sure the boys won’t stop fighting until the final whistle blows. Keep believing.

Woodfields in for the long haul

HeadRed have shaken hands with local haulers, Woodfields, to redevelop their e-commerce driven website.

Woodfields have over 70 years experience in the haulage industry, supplying their customers with landscaping products, topsoil and waste recycling services. Their website acts as the online face for the company and needs to provide Woodfields with a quick and easy portal for selling their products.

Our redevelopment will focus on the customer’s experience and ensuring their path around the site and their route to purchase is as streamlined as possible.

Rule Britannia

February saw the launch of the new website for Britannia Wardrobes, a subsidiary of the highly acclaimed Spaceslide.

The new site has built on the successes of its parent with a clean, crisp design supporting clear calls-to-action for potential customers. Unlike Spaceslide, there is no e-commerce functionality built in, but interested purchasers can request a free quotation by using the web forms located on the site.

Spaceslide are already one of HeadRed’s biggest clients with online sales belying our shrinking economy. We’re sure that the new site for Britannia will follow suit and become equally successful.
