New Site: Putting your best foot forward

Shoes On is an independent retailer specialising in children’s and ladies’ shoes. The company was set up by shoe experts and professional mothers Sam Hill and Lynne Bromnick with the aim of making children’s shoe shopping and fitting a fun and convenient process.

HeadRed worked with Sam and Lynne in the design and development of the Shoes On website, which was launched at the end of November. In addition to many popular brands of kid’s shoes the site also sells a range of ladies footwear to cater for the ultimate mother and child shopping experience.

The site was designed with this target audience in mind with vibrant colours and imagery overlying a simple, easy-to-use e-commerce system.

Industry experts predict a merry christmas for UK e-commerce

The credit crunch might be holding back our high street spending, but it’s still not enough to prevent what experts predict will be another period of year-on-year growth for online retailing.

In forecasts released this past month the industry heavyweights are predicting e-commerce to be the one bright spot for retailers this Christmas IMRG and Capgemini forecast that UK shoppers will spend £13.16bn online in the last quarter of 2008 – a 15% rise when compared to the same period for 2007.

Verdict Research are predicting even larger growth. They feel Christmas online sales in the UK will hit £7bn, which equates to a 39.9% rise from 2007.
It will be interesting to see just how well these predictions match up to the actual figures when they’re released.

If confirmed to be accurate it shows us that, despite all the financial doom and gloom about at the moment, we’re still finding time and money to spend online.

HeadRed FC face up to a bleak midwinter

A combination of poor weather and poor form have seen HeadRed FC’s promising early season position evaporate in a puff of frosty breath.
My last report back in October had the boys sitting in upper mid-table with 4 wins and 4 losses from their opening 8 games.

Sadly their efforts during the past 7 weeks have yet to yield even a single point as the team slipped into mid-table obscurity.

Admittedly the weather has played a big part in our recent demise as only 2 games have actually gone ahead during this time. The rest have been either abandoned due to waterlogged pitches or postponed due to other teams’ commitment in this season’s cup competition.

Although any way you dress it up, two losses from two games is not the greatest form for a team with promotion aspirations.

If HeadRed FC still hope to plan what now seems an unlikely tilt at promotion then they will have to ride out their bleak midwinter form and enter 2009 with a newfound resolve and hunger.

We still believe – here’s to a goal laden 2009!

HeadRed commissioned to build new website for RAATE

The Recent Advances in Assistive Technology and Engineering, or RAATE for short, is a UK conference focused on the latest innovations and developments in assistive technology.

RAATE 2008 was organised and hosted by the Health Design and Technology Institute (HDTI), whom HeadRed designed their website for last year.

The website for RAATE needs to paint a professional picture of the conference to potential delegates in order to encourage registrations, and it is felt that the current site could be greatly improved in these areas. The HDTI have therefore commissioned HeadRed to oversee a complete overhaul of the website in preparation for next year’s event at the Coventry Hilton.

Whilst the RAATE site is redeveloped a temporary holding page will be placed on the HDTI website containing details of where and when next year’s conference is to be held.

The new site for RAATE 2009 is expected to be launched in Quarter 1 next year.

New Site: A picture speaks a thousand words

The last two weeks have seen the launch of Frame Express’ brand new website.

The site, which can be found at http://www.pictureframesexpress.co.uk/, has been a real labour of love. HeadRed have worked closely with the client for the past few months ensuring their new site meets exceptionally high testing standards. The finished product is a highly polished, beautifully designed, user friendly system that provides the ultimate online picture framing experience.

As was the case with its predecessor the new site sells a wide range of picture frames, picture frame mounts and picture frame supplies, but where the real customer value lies is in our tailor-made Express Designer system.

Users can upload their own images to frame and can customise their purchase to their required size, design and mount. The Express Designer guides the customer through the buying process, ensuring that their route to purchase is as streamlined as possible.

Frame Express have always seen a positive level of online sales, but the new site is hoped to further accelerate their profitability and strengthen their position in the online picture framing market.

Visit the site now at http://www.pictureframesexpress.co.uk/
