Comfortably Numb
HeadRed have recently secured a deal with prestigious management company Numb Music to be their chosen technology partner.
Numb represent a number of high profile bands in the Indie/Rock genre including flagship group The Fratellis. The deal will include graphic design and web development for artists across the Numb Music portfolio.
Initial work has already begun on a new website for up-and-coming Glasgow-based band Figure 5, who are already making big waves on the Indie scene with 4 new gigs confirmed for Scotland supporting The Enemy’s UK tour.

Two new sites launched

Our work with the HDTI included the supply of a new content-managed website which provides visitors with information about the institute and the courses on offer.
HeadRed have already supplied Relate in Coventry with their own website, but our work has now spread to the East Midlands and Relate in Leicestershire. Similarly to Coventry’s website, the new Relate Leicestershire site provides local people with a point of access to the centre and the services it offers.

New Year, New Fortunes for HeadRed FC
We’ll be the first to admit that 2007 wasn’t the greatest year in the history of HeadRed FC, but it seems that the New Year has started as it means to go on. Since the turn of the year our two fixtures have seen 10 goals scored and 4 points picked up from a possible 6 available, and it could have been even better for the mighty reds!
On the 6th January the team travelled to lowly Firefighters and recorded a season-best 7-2 victory. The game also saw two hat-tricks scored, with 4 goals going to on-fire striker Bowns and a further 3 to the reinstated Gilmour.
The following week HeadRed FC entertained fellow mid-table opponents Pro Santos Blues and for the most part it was very much a case of history repeating itself. The reds raced into a commanding 3-1 lead, again with both Bowns (2) and Gilmour on the scoresheet. However, disaster struck 5 minutes from time as Pro Santos hit back with an unlikely double to level the game at 3-3. Whilst the result was disappointing the overall performance was encouraging and 1 win and 1 draw from 2 games is a very positive record.
With the team seemingly scoring for fun at the moment and results improving it seems that the New Year has finally seen the team turn the corner. Hopefully this will be the start of a long unbeaten run and a concerted push up the table. Up the reds!

Shooting for success
Here at HeadRed we enjoy a spot of healthy competition. Back in October of last year we reported Liam’s triumph in the great Halloween Pumpkin Carve Off of 2007. Now well into the New Year our thoughts turn to new challenges as we trade our safety knives and candles in for something with a little more bang.
On Feb 27th the team will don flat caps and tweed in abundance as we take part in the annual Coventry Chamber of Commerce Clay Pigeon Shooting competition. Bets are now being taken on who will fire their way to glory and the title of HeadShot Champion 2008.
The winner will be posted on the blog next month along with a full report of the event and any pictures we manage to take along the way.

Christmas shoppers prefer to surf
An early poll done by retail specialist, Actinic, into Christmas trading results has found continued growth in shopping online. Respondents reported a 27% rise in the number of customers buying online at Christmas compared to the same period in 2006. They also reported an even greater increase in internet revenues at 46% – indicating that not only are more people shopping online, but they are spending more as well.
The poll also found e-commerce making a greater proportional contribution to the bottom line compared with other channels. Companies trading both online and offline, reported that on average, just over 50% of sales in November and December were made online, compared with only 30% in 2006.
According to Actinic CEO Chris Barling, the results show that growth in online spending remains remarkably buoyant.
“Considering the effects of the US credit crunch, the Northern Rock crisis and the general overall decline in confidence, 46% is remarkable growth and continues the rise and rise of online retailing.” – he says.
In all, over half of retailers who responded were very confident that online sales would continue to increase in 2008.
